Our History
In the pantheon of India’s freedom fighters, many a sanctum is reserved for heroes from North Karnataka who resisted the oppression of the colonial masters, intent on freeing their motherland from the tyranny of imperialism. That this small region of South India made a contribution so disproportionately large to the struggle for Independence owes considerably to the educational institutions that instilled in students a fiery nationalist spirit, creating minds readily receptive to ideas of revolution. VDS Classic Primary and Higher Primary English Medium School in Gadag-Betgeri, the centenary of which fortuitously coincided with India celebrating her platinum jubilee as an independent country, was one such institution.
With the rapidly changing education system, without forgetting its basic knowledge, the objective of the Vidyadana Samiti is to infuse the education with modernity and temper the extraordinary aspirations of the new traditional values.
“ನ ಹಿ ಜ್ಞಾನೇನ ಸದೃಶಂ ಪವಿತ್ರಮಿಹ ವಿದ್ಯತೆ”, There is no greater wealth than knowledge, Knowledge is Supreme. Vidyadana Samiti’s mission is to inculcate the good qualities of ‘Sanatan’ values to the society with modern education keeping students of rural areas in mind.
